Music Sounds
I am a musician. Everything I practice, from recording dialogue to designing a scene to strumming a guitar, is music to me. I approach music making with this sensibility: manipulating textures or simply listening to silence can be a meaningful, perhaps beautiful, musical expression. Making music is simply reconfiguring sounds to an emotional end, and that’s something I’m in to. My music is kinda weird but also kinda fun. If it moves you, I am so grateful for that connection.
session work / production
I play guitar and keys in rock bands, perform improvisational electronics, play clarinet(s), and drone out in my studio.
I love to write and record parts in ensembles, bands, and other recording projects. I’m also well set up to do virtual recording. I’d be honored if you’d have me write, produce, and/or perform on your record.
mixing and mastering
Mixing music is the last creative process that will impact how a track lands emotionally. My goal is to create an effective representation of a piece that is creatively true and technically excellent. Sometimes, this means experimenting with wild effects and weird ideas. Sometimes, it means applying a soft touch to let a performance be felt true. Collaboration and curiosity lead the way when mixing with me.
I offer cost effective and technically excellent mastering for digital and tape. If adding loads of color and warmth is what you are looking for, we can do that. If making a perfect mix translate well to many speakers and streaming services is what you are after, we can do that. If you are planning to press vinyl, I would recommend mastering facilities that specialize in mastering for vinyl.
performance
I perform and tour primarily with the band, alexalone. We have a good time. I love to sit in on all kinds of projects, so hit me up if you want to play. I am also available for solo ambient, experimental, or background sets.
